Holter
A remote monitoring device that automatically tracks the heart rhythm of a patient with small electrodes that attach to the skin. The devices are typically worn for 24–48 hours and then returned for download and analysis. These monitors are used if a patient has infrequent irregular heart rhythms or symptoms that a regular electrocardiograms may not detect.

MCT
Constantly records a patient’s ECG and electronically sends the data to a healthcare team. No patient involvement is necessary and they are typically worn for 3-30 days. The automated, real time monitoring as well as other built-in functions, make the MCT one of the most advanced technologies in cardiac monitoring. MCT’s are recommended for patients who experience abnormal heart rhythms and need longer-term monitoring.

Event
Longer term monitoring in which the patient can trigger a recording if they are feeling symptomatic, and some auto trigger for tachycardia, bradycardia, pause, or atrial fibrillation. Monitors automatically send the recorded information to the healthcare team. Event monitors are typically worn for 3 to 30 days.
