Q&A

How much does the covid-19 test cost?

If you have insurance in-network with CareCube

your insurance plan must cover diagnostic COVID-19 testing without patient cost sharing whether you are asymptomatic or symptomatic and/or do not have a confirmed exposure.

If you have insurance that is not contracted with CareCube

your insurance plan must process claims as in-network to cover diagnostic COVID-19 testing without patient cost sharing whether you are asymptomatic or symptomatic and do not have a confirmed exposure.

If you are not insured, an out of pocket cost will be charged.

The out of pocket cost of the RT-PCR Swab test is $225.00 and the Rapid Antigen Swab test is $200.00

Is there a waiting area?

Not all CareCube clinics have a waiting area. Patients will be seen by appointment and will be able to wait outside the clinic until it is their turn to enter. We can only allow a limited number of persons inside the clinic at any given time dictated by clinic size to observe appropriate social distancing guidance.

How are we staying safe and clean?

CareCube has implemented safety plans at each location to emphasise hourly sanitising of regularly trafficked areas. All staff are trained to use PPE and additional precautions as appropriate and all visitors and staff must use a face covering while in the clinic. Hand sanitizing stations are placed throughout the clinic for frequent use of staff and visitors as needed.

What can I expect during my covid-19 testing appointment?

Covid-19 testing appointments may be made online or seeked out by walking into any clinic. Once inside, our CareCube team will invite you to submit your details online using your own device, a Medical Assistant will take your vitals and a provider will evaluate you either onsite or virtually and be able to answer any questions you have about COVID-19. Following this, the MA will proceed to collect your testing sample and conclude your appointment. Your results will be sent to you via the email provided the same day of appointment.

What devices are we using and what does it test and detect?

Rapid Antigen Test: CareCube is using Sofia SARS Antigen FIA testing kit in association with Quidel and the BD Veritor Plus System. These testing kits require a specimen sample, or swab, from your nose, or nasopharynx. This device conducts qualitative detection of nucleocapsid protein from SARS-CoV-2. That is, the test detects certain proteins only present in a swab sample where Coronavirus is actively present in the host.

RT-PCR Swab Test: CareCube runs a high complexity CLIA certified Lab using the 7500 fast DX analyzer device coupled with the Lyra Direct SARS-CoV-2 Assay. The RT-PCR swab is a Molecular Nucleic Acid Amplification Test (NAAT) that seeks to detect genetic material of the Coronavirus in any given sample.

Do I need electronic referrals for COVID-19 testing related visits?

In order to receive COVID-19 testings at CareCube, consultation visits are required with our medical providers. For such consultation visits, you might need electronic referrals from your primary care physicians.

United Healthcare Community Plan and Emblem HIP always require electronic referrals. For other insurance plans, please find this information on the front or the back of your insurance cards or talk to your insurance carriers for more information. Here are some references. (Insert pictures here)

Please have electronic referrals ready before your visits. Without an electronic referral, the cost of a consultation visit is $125.

What does a positive test mean?

If you test positive for Coronavirus you will need to quarantine for 14 days and decrease contact with your immediate family. You may experience some flu-like symptoms; fever, new and persistent cough and shortness of breath. Other symptoms may include but are not limited to headaches, loss of taste and loss of smell. Symptoms of Coronavirus manifest differently in each host. If you have trouble breathing you must visit the ER immediately.

Your healthcare provider will work with you to determine how best to care for you based on your test result(s) along with your medical history, and your symptoms.

What does a negative test mean?

If you test negative for Coronavirus you must continue practicing frequent hand hygiene, safe social distancing and wearing a face mask/covering at all times where social distancing is not possible.

Your healthcare provider will work with you to determine how best to care for you based on your test result(s) along with your medical history, and your symptoms.

Are the test results with this device dependable?

The Sofia SARS Antigen test is authorised by FDA under the Emergency Use Authorisation Act (EUA) and has met FDA sensitivity, specificity and over all performance characteristics requirements. The results are deemed reliable to assign a patient centered care plan based upon results and testing devices.

What’s the difference between Swab Test & Antibody Test?

Antigen/Swab testing detects proteins present in the nasopharynx usually produced when infected with Coronavirus. This gives diagnostic results of an actively positive or actively negative host. This test is useful as evidence to work or travel that you are positive following symptoms or negative following symptoms.

Antibody testing is a blood test. This test seeks out antibodies produced when your body is fighting off the virus. This indicates you have had coronavirus in the past and your body has had an immune response to the virus, thus the ability to detect antibodies. This test is useful to gauge if you have had the virus in the past. Wether the presence of antibodies indicates some immunity to the virus is still being investigated

What if I don’t have insurance?

Out of network costs:

Rapid Antigen swab testing – $200 = $75 for test and $125 for visit

Antibody test(in house) – $200 = $75 for test and $125 for visit.
